My friend and I launched this project at the beginning of 2023. The reason for creating it was the release of ChatGPT by OpenAI in November 2022 — a breakthrough that quickly became part of everyday life worldwide.
However, since it was the first version, its Kazakh language capabilities were very poor: it often failed to understand and produced unclear responses. Wanting to ensure our country could also benefit from this innovation and use the technology, we built our own application. Our version became the first chatbot capable of delivering high-quality and grammatically correct answers in Kazakh. Without any advertising, purely through word of mouth, the user base reached 5,000 within a short time.
Unfortunately, by mid-2023, we had to shut the project down due to:
- ChatGPT’s Kazakh language capabilities improving significantly, along with Yandex introducing Kazakh support in its Alice and YandexGPT products, making us uncompetitive.
- The high resource demands of constantly updating and maintaining the server and application, which we could not sustain.
